Save yourself
I started my Art Of Living class again and yesterday in class I learnt a way to save myself.
We constantly hear about ways of saving the planet, save water, save electricity; what about saving your self from the mess in your mind. Here are some emotions/reactions that will help you from emotional damage.
1. Be friendly towards happy people
2. Be happy for people that are doing good/well.
3. Show compassion to unfortunate people.
4. Be indifferent towards bad.
When you praise someone, you take on their good karma. When you blame someone, you take on their bad karma ~ Sri Sri Ravishankar

Facebook, twitter, texting, email - what have these done for us other than remove the need of actual human interaction. Oh they have also ruined our grammar. Our vocabulary has been limited to LOL, OMG and WTH!!
This post is an hope to eloquently speak and write english. I will keep updating this post as I come across my slang grammar.

Today I was having a conversation with my boyfriend and used the word 'but' in my sentence. Immediately he pointed out to me why the word 'but' wasn't necessary and how it made my discuss sound negative. After he pointed this out I realized I use this word very regularly.
Basically every time you use the word 'but, 'however' 'although' or any other contradictory word you are really just disagreeing with the person.
Ex - I love this dress, but I wish it was a lighter color.
Solution - Replace 'but' with 'and'
I love this dress and I really wish they had a lighter color.
Eliminating the word but will strengthen your argument and leave a positive feeling.

Today at work I was dealing with some pricing work. Being an engineer this is so new for me. I was describing to my friend this experience over chat and began to type ' wow, pricing is a whole nother world!'. Before I hit the send key I looked at the sentence like a slight tilt in my head like what the... yes that look. So I looked up ' whole nother' to make sure it was a real word. Yea turns out 'nother' is NOT a word.
Ex - I was living in a whole nother world.
Solution - I was living in another world or in a completely different world.
Hope this helps my readers too!! Also am open to any suggestions and comments :)
Cheers!!

A reply from CEO of J.P. Morgan to a pretty girl seeking a rich husband
A young and pretty lady posted this on a popular forum:
Title: What should I do to marry a rich guy?
I'm going to be honest of what I'm going to say here. I'm 25 this year. I'm very pretty, have style and good taste. I wish to marry a guy with $500k annual salary or above.
You might say that I'm greedy, but an annual salary of $1M is considered only as middle class in New York.
My requirement is not high. Is there anyone in this forum who has an income of $500k annual salary? Are you all married?
I wanted to ask: what should I do to marry rich persons like you?
Among those I've dated, the richest is $250k annual income, and it seems that this is my upper limit.
If someone is going to move into high cost residential area on the west of New York City Garden(?), $250k annual income is not enough.
I'm here humbly to ask a few questions:
1) Where do most rich bachelors hang out? (Please list down the names and addresses of bars, restaurant, gym)
2) Which age group should I target?
3) Why most wives of the riches are only average-looking? I've met a few girls who don't have looks and are not interesting, but they are able to marry rich guys.
4) How do you decide who can be your wife, and who can only be your girlfriend? (my target now is to get married)
-Ms. Pretty
A philosophical reply from CEO of J.P. Morgan:
Dear Ms. Pretty,
I have read your post with great interest. Guess there are lots of girls out there who have similar questions like yours. Please allow me to analyse your situation as a professional investor.
My annual income is more than $500k, which meets your requirement, so I hope everyone believes that I'm not wasting time here.
From the standpoint of a business person, it is a bad decision to marry you. The answer is very simple, so let me explain.
Put the details aside, what you're trying to do is an exchange of "beauty" and "money" : Person A provides beauty, and Person B pays for it, fair and square.
However, there's a deadly problem here, your beauty will fade, but my money will not be gone without any good reason. The fact is, my income might increase from year to year, but you can't be prettier year after year.
Hence from the viewpoint of economics, I am an appreciation asset, and you are a depreciation asset. It's not just normal depreciation, but exponential depreciation. If that is your only asset, your value will be much worse 10 years later.
By the terms we use in Wall Street, every trading has a position, dating with you is also a "trading position". If the trade value dropped we will sell it and it is not a good idea to keep it for long term - same goes with the marriage that you wanted. It might be cruel to say this, but in order to make a wiser decision any assets with great depreciation value will be sold or "leased".
Anyone with over $500k annual income is not a fool; we would only date you, but will not marry you. I would advice that you forget looking for any clues to marry a rich guy. And by the way, you could make yourself to become a rich person with $500k annual income. This has better chance than finding a rich fool.
Hope this reply helps. If you are interested in "leasing" services, do contact me.

Pie crust:
2 cups of all purpose flour
1/2 cup of butter
1 teaspoon of baking powder
Milk ( use as per ur discretion)
Pie filling:
3 peeled n sliced apples (1 granny, 2 red delicious)
3 teaspoons of brown sugar
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of cardamom powder
1/2 teaspoon of lemon
10 nilla crackers ( preferably low fat vanilla)
Directions -
1. Mix all the crust ingredients to make dough.
2. wrap in a cling film n refrigerate, while u making the filling
3. Peel and slice ur apples, soak them in water and add 1/2 teaspoon on lemon this will prevent it from turning yellow.
4. Mix all the above filling and make paste and then add the apples into that paste.

best...quotes...ever!!
I may be 'just' a mere thread in the tapestry of life, but I am a shiny one ;) - Me
I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you learn to appreciate them when they're right. You believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself...and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together. ~Marilyn Monroe
Jealousy is simply and clearly the fear that you do not have value. Jealousy scans for evidence to prove the point - that others will be preferred and rewarded more than you. There is only one alternative - self-value. If you cannot love yourself, you will not believe that you are loved. You will always think it's a mistake or luck. Take your eyes off others and turn the scanner within. Find the seeds of your jealousy, clear the old voices and experiences. Put all the energy into building your personal and emotional security. Then you will be the one others envy, and you can remember the pain and reach out to them. ~Jennifer James
I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best. ~Marilyn Monroe
I do not try to dance better than anyone else. I only try to to dance better than myself. ~Mikhail Baryshnikov
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. ~ Marianne Williamson
Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it's always your choice.~ Wayne Dyer
Sometimes I wish I were a kid again; skinned knees are a lot easier to fix than a broken heart. ~Anonymous
You know that place between sleep and awake, the place where you can still remember dreaming? That's where I'll always love you, Peter Pan. That's where I'll be waiting. ~Tinkerbell
fall in love or fall in hate.
get inspired or be depressed.
ace a test or flunk a class.
make babies or make art.
speak the truth or lie and cheat.
dance on the table or sit in the corner
life is divine chaos. embrace it.
forgive yourself. Breathe.
and enjoy the ride. ~Solbeam
TIME PASSES. EVEN WHEN IT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE. EVEN when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse of blood behind a bruise. It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me. ~Stephenie Meyer
There are two kinds of dreams. There are dreams that we have while asleep and dreams that we have while we are awake. What is the connection between the two types? Both kinds of dreams are about the yearnings that are held deep inside us. Some of these desires are so secret that we dare not share them even with our closest friends. Those of us that dare to put our dreams down on paper are showing the courage to hope that they will come true. ~Anonymous

trust.
Today I googled 'trust' (yup, you know its trouble when you google sh*t like that haha)
Wikipedia says - Trust , reliance on another person or entity. Having faith in others and believing them.
I didn't like that meaning so I googled some more until I stumbled at this
"Smelling isn't everything" said the Elephant. "Why," said the Bulldog, "if a fellow can't trust his nose, what is he to trust?" "Well, his brains perhaps," she replied mildly. - C.S. Lewis
Haha, now thats my kindof thinking! :)
As natural and essential as it seems, why is it so hard to trust. What is it about trust that scares me. Is it the fear of being hurt? Nope, Ive been hurt a million times before and survived, in fact grew stronger. So why does it always seen so hard and impossible.
If you trust too much you might be deceived, but if you don't trust enough you might live in agony. How much is enough? When is it too much? Urgh!! Again so many questions? And whats the answer ' Just go with the flow, play it by the ear'.
Ima tell you this, I will trust but I will be cautious too. The day, you wrong me - YOUR OUT. I will not think twice before showing you the door. I gave you a chance and you f**ked up!. Deal with the loss.
Phew!, on a lighter note ima leave you guys with a song I really like and I guess it sort of have relevance to this post. Sortof! La Roux - Bulletproof
PS - There's a study on trust, check it out. So cool
